Pride in the Highlands - formerly Minden Pride - is a volunteer-run not-for-profit organization serving the 2SLGBTQIA+ community throughout the Haliburton Highlands: Minden Hills, Algonquin Highlands, Dysart Et Al, and Highlands East. Our annual Pride Festival is recognized as one of the largest cultural festivals in the county.

Art is a way to express yourself and have your voice heard and seen. Throughout history powerful queer artists have pushed boundaries, made statements and expressed their emotions in all mediums. Together, let our Voice of Pride be seen.
In our third year, Pride in the Highlands, in partnership with the Minden Hills Cultural Centre and Walling Studios, is proud to present this exhibition highlighting emerging and established artists of Haliburton County.
SUBMISSIONS ARE OPEN UNTIL JULY 24th, 2026
Artwork can include painting, drawing, mixed media, photography, printmaking, textiles, jewellery, sculpture or digital art. (NO AI generated art).
Please provide work that is new or created within the past four years. Artwork must be original. Artists can submit up to four original pieces to be considered for the exhibition.

Images not exceed 5mb and be a minimum of 627pixels x 480pixels, 7dpi
Include: Artist Name/Alias, Artwork Title, Date, Medium(s), Dimensions

Artists will be notified by Aug 4th. Works to be provided to gallery by Aug 7th, 2026 for installation.

Love, Scott (2018), directed by Laura Marie Wayne, follows gay musician Scott Jones after a brutal attack in a small Canadian town leaves him paralyzed from the waist down. From the early days in the hospital to a return to the site of the assault, Scott confronts grief, trauma, and vulnerability while choosing love over fear. Filmed over three years by a close friend, the documentary offers an intimate and visually evocative portrait of resilience and queer identity, underscored by a haunting score from Sigur Rós.
